Hayes is regarded as the pioneer in the modem field. Unfortunately this once proud manufacturer decalred bankruptcy and is closing shop. Hayes bought up Practical Peripherals as well. Unfortunately no one knows how much if any support there will be for these modems once the bankruptcy process is over. We should know in the next month or two. The court is auctioning off Hayes, its contracts and everything else late in February. Just recently Hayes got into ADSL and Cable modems and both their products in these fields were looking pretty good.
Hayes 56k modems are based on the Rockwell chipset and support 56kFlex and V.90. Their website is pretty good. A few years ago it was one of the better support site, but right now, its about average.
